The Doren Family

Well, This is Dawson. He turned 4 on Aug. 30th. He is so creative and attentive. He still likes Blues Clues but there is a new love in his life. He likes to pretend he is Sporticus from the cartoon Lazytown. He jumps in the air and off my couch trying to do the same jumps he does. He loves to eat fruit and vegetables and good things because they will help him grow big muscles and strong bones. He thinks it will be instantaneously though. very funny. He broke his arm back on July 2nd. Trying to get on the neighbors trampoline. I didn't think it was broke because he didn't cry. But I took it in anyway to be sure and he had broken both bones in his arm. So I think I will be paying for that till next July. I don't think that will be the last time I am at the hospital with him. Dawson loves to play games on the nick jr. website. He is very computer savy. He watches me and then he does it. He amazes me every day. He also likes to try to get everybody to go to grandma pitchers for a party. Grandma is great to welcome and help make the imagination of the grandkids grow. Dawson constantly asks to call grandma and grandpa or he wants to use my cell phone to text with my sisters or grandma. We recently are recovering from Dawson learning we don't color on walls and furniture. About a month ago he colored on his walls and down the stairs and on the livingroom walls with crayons (I only bought washable) so we had a cleaning moment and a learning moment (I did get pictures.) But just last week we were rearanging our livingroom furniture and Rob gasped from awe, Dawson had drawn a mural on the back of the couch. It was a love seat, microfiber, Mashell had told me to clean it use babywipes.. (works awesome by the way) So it did come off thank goodness. Anyway, Dawson is always asking questions and wanting to know how things work. I call my mom almost everyday to tell her funny stories of my days with my kids. It doesn't get any better than this.

The Doren Family

This is Danika Sue with daddy. She was born Sept. 16 so she is about 13 mos. old. She is growing so fast. She is walking and going up stairs, and giving Dawson a run for his money. She is very happy and her favorite toys are books and following dawson around to help him get into trouble. She loves to go for walks in the stroller and be outside. She loves the park and going to the library. We love having her in our family. She likes to give hugs to everybody. She also likes to play with shoes. Rob was getting socks and shoes on to go to work and she picked up his shoes and ran away with them. Shoes is the first word outside of our names she has learned. She will get them out of the basket and drag them all over the house. She is in love with taking baths. She tries to jump in while I am getting the water started. I can't get her in fast enough. I always have to change shirts after. She is an exciting little girl. We love her so much.

Sam . . . The Bishop

We are a few weeks into the new calling and so far I have had questions like, "What's it like being the Bishop's wife?" and "Is it weird having him gone all the time?" And my favorite comments are the ones that can only lead to this answer: "Great, we will go ahead and take the campaign signs down now."

The nice thing is that nothing had to change for us. He is still the same guy and I am still the same gal. Yes, he is gone more than he used to be but it isn't anything that can't be handled with a few babysitters. The sad part of the deal is that we both had callings we loved. He served on the High Council and worked with the Spanish Branch. He felt like he promised them the world and wasn't given the time needed to fulfill the promise. I am serving as the Enrichment Counselor in Relief Society but was told by the Stake President that I needed to be released. I understand the wisdom in doing so but I love what I do and don't feel like I'm really done. Maybe I can finally serve as the Assistant Librarian. I've always wanted that calling.

So far this has been very eye-opening. Our phone rings at late hours during the week and a ton on Sunday. I have greater compassion for any family that has already been through this. At the same time, it is also very spiritual. The spirit in our home is measureably stronger and that is awesome. But the thing that will pull me through this is the knowledge that Sam has been called to this position to help the youth of our ward. These kids need him and I can share him if he is needed that bad.

Justin & Jessica Newman

Well, I've been looking at everyone else's family's and feeling like maybe I should wait until we have children to post anything... but that could be a while so here goes ;). Justin and I were married on April 12th, 2008 in the Timpanogos Temple. We're living in Orem. Justin works for a research firm as an account manager and will be going back to BYU in September. I work with handicap high school kids, and will hopefully go back to school early next year. We are really excited for football season (so we can use our BYU tickets)! Looking Good!

I love all they new postings. A big THANK YOU to everyone who has participated. As you talk to family members please make sure they know about the web site. The answer to the "hands" is long over due so here we go. The first one was obvious it is Floris and Floyd. The second set was the hardest it is the Lee's, we have Gene, Justin and Jenny. Then we have Jacob and Ashley and finally the last ones are Ryan and Emily.

The Lungren Latest

I have been waiting for an updated family picture before I post but Paul seems anxious for this to take off. This just means I will have to post another picture later on.

This last year has been VERY busy for us. I heard that happens as your kids get older and it's true. We live 5-minutes from Lake Lowell and love to zip over there with the boat when the water is calm at night. Our pictures are taken from a variety of activities we have done this summer.

After 5-years serving as the Young Men's president in our ward, Sam was released and called as the Cub-Master. That lastest 3-weeks and the Stake President called us in and asked him to serve on the Stake High Council. It's a good thing he has kept up with his spanish because he is in charge of the Spanish Initiative which includes working with the one Spanish Branch here in Nampa. He really enjoyed working with the young men but this is just as enjoyable for him on a different level. My biggest shock with the calling was that he had to be set apart as a High Priest.

Sam works at Beneficial Financial Group and is going on 9 years! He absolutely loves what he does and I love the flexibility it provides.

I serve in the Relief Society Presidency as the Enrichment Counselor. After being the Enrichment Leader for 3-years, it was a nice change without taking me out of Enrichment all together. I stay really busy at home with the kids. We maintain a schedule each day of the summer with scripture reading, exercise, jobs, lunch at the park, school work (math, spelling and reading) craft & science projects, cooking classes and library & swimming pool visits. I figure I can either spend my efforts as a referee in the kids' arguments or I can spend it keeping their minds busy. In my spare time I try to fit in a little reading, gardening and scrapbooking.

Braden is 8-years old and will be going into 3rd grade this year. He was baptized this summer and loves all kinds of sports. Scouts has become a favorite and he has already earned his Bobcat. He has figured out how to knee board and is trying to wake board. There are lots of words I can use to describe him but the first that comes to mind is obedient.

Hansen will be going into 1st grade this fall. He is our family jokster. He knows just the right time to say something funny to lighten the mood. He loves sports too. He is most comfortable being pulled in the tube or just swimming in the water around the boat.

Maren is 3 and really good at it! She is potty trained now and that is one of the highlights of our summer! She is so sweet but challenging at the same time. This is as far into the water she will go. The sad thing is that she thinks she's swimming!

Ryen just turned 1, has learned to walk, and likes to follow the other kids everywhere! He is a very happy baby but VERY busy. It's hard to keep up with him some days. His favorite things include pulling the Ziplock bags out of the boxes, splashing in the toilet and coloring on the floor with crayons.

James Family 08

This is the James Family's most recent family picture. This was taken at the end of March at the Orlando, Fl. Temple. We were there for Travis' brother's wedding. While we were there we stayed for a week and visited Walt Disney World. If anybody is planning to go or just wants to hear how fun it is, just let me know.

We live in Tremonton right now. It's a great meeting place for those passing through. If you ever need a rest or some food as you pass by, give me a call.

Travis works for Wal-Mart Distribution in Corinne. He is an Assistant Manager and works four days a week. He also works with the Young Men in the ward as the Deacon's Quorum Advisor. He would be more busy with that but he works evenings so he usually only sees them on Sunday's and holidays for putting flags up around the neighborhood.

I mostly stay home with the kids. I clean for three ladies while Travis is home to stay with the kids, and I try to keep up with my own house. I also work with the Primary in the ward as the Second Counselor. I do a lot of work with the cub scouts. It keeps me pretty busy.

Then there is Abigail (Abby). She is turning 5 in December. I am currently looking for a pre-school for her. She is getting smarter every day! She loves drawing people and her letters. She also loves to say a word, then say it again and say "Hey! This word starts with this letter!". She loves reading and playing with the few neighbor kids. She loves Primary and singing songs.

Nathan (Nate) will be 18 months on Sept. 6. He is growing faster than Abby did I think. He is almost 25 pounds and still growing! He is growing in more teeth as usual (which may have caused his most recent fever that lasted for 3 days!) and eating all the food he can find. Tonight I changed his bed so now he has the option for climbing out. He was so excited when he looked at it, but to actually sleep in it he wasn't so excited. He kept climbing out so I let him cry and when he finally stopped he was asleep on the floor in front of his door. It was pretty sad but I remember doing the same thing with Abby.

I used to be told by others that once you have children, time seems to fly by and years seem to go by as days. I have never believed it 'till now. Time is flying and we are having fun.

The Parr Family

Here is the most current picture of my family. I will post others later. I am a stay at home mom, and loving it. My husband Chris, is an aircraft mechanic. We have a son James, who is now three. Of course there is a Lighthouse in the picture. We try to see all the lighthouses in the area. We live in Everett, Washington. If any one ever wants to visit you are more than welcome.

In a land far, far away...

As you may or may not have heard, I have moved up to Nampa! I am living with Mashell and her family while I go to massage therapy school which starts Sept. 8th. Wow. haha... that didn't take as long as I thought it would. But that's pretty much my life in a nut shell. :)

So as you can see this is our Family. Here's a quick up date on what's happening. Mom: is being a mom and a grandma!! She's been delivering the news paper and works at the senior center.
Jacyn and Nicole: Jacyn is working at Preston Ford as a mechanic and Nicole is a stay at home Mom with Lacey and they are expecting in September with a girl!!!Elizabeth (Me)! I'm working in Richmond at Pepperidge Farm. I'm currently living at home and contemplating the facts of life.Ryan and Emily: They are now living in North Logan. Ryan is working in Hyde Park at Outdoor Rental. Also he just completed part of the Flight Program at USU and now is a Private Pilot! Emily is enrolled in Maximum Style Tech Beauty School! Next is Rebekah: She is loving life and is attending Idaho State University, and majoring in Dental Hygeine also she's working at the ISU bookstore! Shelby is living at home and excited to move on to greater adventures AFTER she graduates from high school in 2009. Then last but not least is little miss Whitney, who isn't that little anymore...she'll be going in to Jr. High in August..

I think that the first hands are Mother and Floyd, the second ones are Gene, Justin and Allen, the 3rd ones are Ashley and Jacob, and the last ones are Emily and Ryan Bodily.

Wild for Wildflowers

This has been a great month for spending time in the outdoors. I have spent 2 awesome days in and around Franklin Basin. The first trip was Thursday before the reunion. Brent and I parked at the Guard Station, went up past Hull Valley and over the German Dugway - through Paris Meadows and down into Paris and had lunch. All the snow was gone from the road this time so it was pretty easy riding.

We ate lunch in the Antique shop. They make sandwiches and pizza in the back. Just be prepared, they don't take debit cards and the nearest ATM is in Montpelier. Thankfully they still let us eat if we would mail them a check when we got home. Its a great feeling to know there are still good people in the world who will help a neighbor even if they do live on the other side of the mountain.

The second trip was with Mother and Floyd. We went up Franklin Basin via Logan Canyon. The road was a lot better than coming from Willow Flat but still a little bumpy. Once we got on top the wildflowers where all over. The meadow at the summit was full of flowers from the road all the way to the mountains. We first stopped at the mailbox to see if we had a message. Then we found a nice spot to have lunch and ate KFC among the trees, flowers and one little black bug that scared mother to death. I have never been up there when there have been more flowers they where truly amazing.

To complete the trip we went to Egan Basin and to the plane wreck. If you have never been there it is definitely worth the trip. A military plane carrying soldiers coming home from the Korean War crashed, killing everybody on board. The flight left Washington on its way to South Carolina 400 pounds over weight. Bad weather caused the wings to ice over and the plane hit into trees and crashed into the mountain. Because of the remoteness of the area and the fact that it was the middle of winter, it took 5 days to find the plane. A few years ago they built a pretty good road to the crash site so the families of the victims could get up there for a memorial. The best way to go is to drive to St. Charles and then just drive up the canyon. I don't recommend taking a car. A 4-wheeler would be great, we took my Jeep and of course it worked out great! This is a picture from the crash site. At the top of the hill are two trees that have been sheared off, believed to be caused from the plane wreck.

We all had a great time, if you get a chance you really should go. You can also go to Bloomington Lake or Minetonka Cave while your in the area

Family Reunion

Holding hands was popular at the reunion this year. Can you guess who's hands these are? Thanks to Clark, Dixie and family we had another great reunion. The time seems to go by so fast and its over before you know it. My favorite things where sitting around the campfire and playing the animal sign game and of course the dutch-oven cook off. I also have to thank: Brent for letting me borrow 2 dutch-ovens and not making me carry them from the other parking lot, Curtis & Tiffany for advice and tools, Brad & Bobbie for cooking the tortillas and Amy for helping me with tools and saving my life with a cold drink of water!
